I think it would be interesting to list out and explain what I carry around with me every day, and trying to keep it less about the actual product itself and more about the overall style.

Current

As my phone I carry around a Nokia 225 4G for now, just 2 weeks prior before buying it I was using a GrapheneOS Pixel 6a which would probably be the standard for digital privacy and security, but I ended up being too stressed out about any new Signal message or E-Mail that might just come through. Every day and especially during work I thought “oh well, let’s just check if maybe person x has replied” or “what if my package has arrived and they sent me an E-Mail” or even worse “what was that thing I’m thinking about, let me search for it” so I decided that it would be better for me to quit all of that and just return to a dumbphone, like I had before. But other than before I decided to not go with an old one because those tended to be quite unreliable for me sadly, that’s why I got the Nokia 225 4G for 20€ on eBay.

As my calendar, phone book and todo-list I use 3 separate books from Paperblanks (because their designs are quite unique) and I have been doing that for roughly 6 months now. The most important part is definitely the todo-list book because I often have a hard time remembering things I want to do. Since I started writing this stuff down I have noticed a huge increase in things I actually get done in my life. The calendar is less used but definitely necessary since I need to write down an appointment every once in a while. The phone book is something I initially didn’t think I’d need but when I started having problems with contacts being deleted from my SIM Card and I had to frequently ask my mother for numbers of family members, I decided that I’ll just write the most important ones down on paper, this has saved me quite a couple of times, especially since I don’t carry an internet-capable device around every day and when I need to call my doctor or comparable, I just look it up in my phone book.

My notebook is a really nice refillable leather notebook where I write down all my big lists, notes and everything, it’s quite full already with lists of books that I’d like to read and notes on supplements and biohacking tricks. The thing that initially held me back the most from getting a paper notebook is the fact that on paper you can’t just insert things and remove things easily, but with this one being refillable I can just easily insert and remove pages where I need to, I also have some organizers in there so I can simulate having multiple files, it’s been working pretty great so far, the only thing that I can’t do is bring this around with me everywhere I go (at work I put it in my backpack) but since I carry around my todo-list everywhere I can just write down what I’ll write down in the notebook and just add it to the notebook later.

An iPod Classic 6th generation as my “Media consumption device”, that’s how I like to consume both my podcasts and my music and it’s pretty much my only electronic entertainment device that I carry around with me. It’s been really reliable and I’ve even tried running Rockbox on it but Rockbox has pretty poor support for Podcasts and was in general just a bit buggy, that’s why I decided to switch my computer back to macOS so I could easily synchronize my Podcasts and Music and Playlists by just plugging in the iPod every once in a while.

Planned Future Changes

The main thing I would love to change is the fact that I lug around both my todo-list book and my wallet almost everywhere I go, mostly unnecessarily even because in my wallet there are just 3-4 cards and mostly a bit of cash when I know I’m going to need it, and for that little use it’s just way too bulky. That’s why I’m getting myself a leather sleeve for my todo-list book that’ll fit nicely in my pocket and provide me with a few card slots and a nice little pocket inside where I can put my cash and a little sock for my pen, with that everything that I usually need is just in one and I can go off and out of the house without worrying that I forgot anything. Of course you might notice that I have no place to put any coins, that’s why I’ll use an old headphone bag of mine (just a little sack) to store any coins that I have on me, I can take them with me when I need them but usually I don’t so I can just leave them, still much more space efficient than a whole wallet and todo-list book.

I hope that this may have been interesting to someone or maybe even helpful, thanks for reading and have a nice day :)
